PHSA's Life & Death in the Piscataqua Symposium

Portsmouth Historic Sites Associates’ annual symposium is back!  Join us in person for a day of history and soup at St. John's Masonic Temple.  Local historians will present on the American Revolution and commemorations of the nation's 250th anniversary. Tickets include all talks, a lunch of homemade soup, and an optional tour of the Masonic Hall.

Speakers include:

  • Erica Lome, Historic New England Curator, will speak about HNE's NewEngland250 project and up-coming exhibition "Myth and Memory," both of which explore stories about Tories, women, Black and Indigenous people during the Revolution. 

  • Dr. Patrick Jennings, Park Manager, Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion : “Benning Wentworth, Accidental Revolutionary.”

  • Barbara Rimkunas , Co-Executive Director of the Exeter Historical Society: "Reviving Exeter's Black Revolutionary War Veterans and their Families”

  • Dr. Gerry Ward, Curator of the Portsmouth Historical Society: “Power to the People:  250 Years of Public Protests in Portsmouth and the Seacoast."
