Listen to the Joyful Singers in the historic Warner House.

Make visiting the 300 year-old Warner House a part of your holiday tradition! We will be open Saturday December 3, 2016 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Period tableware and place settings will be on display for the first time in several decades. Traditional foods such as Croquembouche, Shortbread, Clootie, Plum Pudding and Pain d’Epices fill the holiday table. Twinkling candles and even a Christmas tree will delight both young and old. Come hear holiday choral singing in a house designed for acoustic performances. Historic holiday treats will be served.

Admission is by donation and reservations are not needed.

ARCHITECTURAL SECRETS TOUR
Mondays, 10 a.m. 
This behind-the-scenes focus tour explores the architectural evolution of the c.1716 house from first period features to later-18th and 19th century alterations and 20th-century restoration. $15 per person. Please call ahead to reserve your spot at (603) 436-5909.

Opening Day!
Opened to the public in 1932 as a house museum, the c.1716 Warner House celebrates over 300 years in the 2017 season.  Daily tours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open Wednesday - Monday, closed Tuesdays. 
 
JUNE 8, 2017
Warner House Above and Below Ground Ceramics Used in Dining, 5:30 p.m.
Join Archaeologist Martha Pinello as she discusses the artifacts found in Warner House dig sites and how those findings relate to the house's occupants.

Costumed Tea with the Royal Scottish Country Dance, 12 - 3 p.m.
The Costumed Tea is in conjunction with Market Square Day and tours of the downstairs will be available.

Members' Party, 5 - 7 p.m. 
Celebrate the completion of the LCHIP project. Kerry Vautrot, Buildings and Grounds chair, will give tours of the finished projects and discuss what lies ahead for the Warner House in its next 300 years. The band Penhallow will provide the entertainment!

Join Warner House curator Sandra Rux as she discusses the silk textiles of the Warner family.

JULY 23, 2017
DIY Terrariums Workshop, 2 p.m.
Bring your green thumb (black thumbs welcome too!) and enjoy an afternoon of miniature gardening with a historical flare presented by Glassroots Terrariums. You will learn all you need to know how to create a lovely self-sustaining environment to brighten your home or office. Snacks will be provided.
Pre-registration is required as there are a limited number of spaces. 
Cost includes all supplies and you will take home your creation. 
$55 for WH members, $65 all others
 
 
AUGUST 11, 2017
Twilight Tour, 4:30 - 8 p.m.
Visit the Warner House and other historic houses as dusk approaches. Sponsored by the Portsmouth Historic House Associates (PHHA), click here for more information.
Advance tickets: $18 adults, $8 children (ages 12 and under)
Day-of-tickets: $20 adults, $10 children (ages 12 and under)
Tickets are good for admission to all nine houses.

Join Warner House Curator Sandra Rux and Warner House Director Jeffrey Hopper on recent objects as well as fascinating stories about the collection.

AUGUST 27, 2017
St. John's Service at the Warner House, 8 a.m. & 9:30 a.m.
Services of the Holy Eucharist will be in the Warner House garden. This service is held to honor the early residents of the Warner House who were also communicants of St John’s (and of Queen’s Chapel in the early days) and to share the celebration with our closest neighbor.  Chairs will be provided. Lemonade and cookies will be served and music will follow the 9:30 a.m. service. The Warner House will be open for tours of the first floor. Free event.

OCTOBER 15th
Closing Day!
Daily tours of the Warner House end today. 
 
NOVEMBER 14th
Community Benefit Night at Flatbread Company, 4-9 p.m.
Support the Warner House while enjoying delicious wood-fired pizza. Fo every pizza sold, the Warner House receives a portion of the proceeds.  There will also be a silent auction. More info.

Autumn tours of the Warner House

Annual Warner House Members' Party

Kerry Vautrot and James Taylor of the Building & Grounds Committee will present the completed work of the Land & Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) project. Please join us to thank them for their efforts with this endeavor.

This year the band Penhallow will provide entertainment.  Penhallow has kindly donated their time and talents for this event. We encourage you to support them by making a donation to the band on Friday evening.

Evolution of Museum Interpretation of the Warner House, 5:30 p.m.
Martha Pinello, Louise Richardson and Sandra Rux, three Warner House Board of Directors, will discuss how the Warner House has changed since it became a museum in 1932.  This lecture is part of the Piscataqua Decorative Arts Society (PDAS) and takes place at the Tyco Center at Strawbery Banke Museum.  The lecture is free for Society members and $10 for non-members.  For additional information on PDAS, click here

Downton Tea in Downtown Portsmouth.  2 - 4 p.m.
Back by popular demand! Learn the Warner House connection to the popular television show Downton Abbey.  Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters for tea, light refreshments and other activities in the delightful garden of the English-styled Warner House.  Prizes for best costume and trivia.
